Learning to play the piano is not only a process of learning the mechanics and written language of music, but of learning to listen to and better engage with the music around us.  It is a process of learning how to learn and perfect a skill, of understanding music on a page or on the radio, and of discovering new styles of music.

I teach all ages from beginner to advanced piano and will choose an approach for each student depending on his or her interests and goals.  I can prepare students for Royal Conservatory exams or I can develop a more flexible program.

My goal is to enable students to play piano confidently and beautifully on their own at any level by teaching them the necessary tools.  I emphasize good practice techniques, a questioning mind and strong problem-solving, and an appreciation for good sound production and expressivity.

I teach out of my home in downtown Toronto and I am willing to travel to give lessons in students' homes.  I am currently accepting new students to begin immediately or in January.  Please contact me at megan@megancrane.info for rates, scheduling, references, or to make an appointment.
